Short Description
The Government of Nepal and the International Development Association (IDA) entered into a Financing Agreement for the Enhanced Vocational Education and Training Project (EVENT Project) on June 30, 2011. The Project is being implemented over a four-year period through a dedicated Project Secretariat (PS) under the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of Nepal. The primary objective of the EVENT Project is to increase the supply of skilled and employable human resources by enhancing access to quality training programs and strengthening the overall Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system in Nepal.
The Project is particularly focused on improving access to TVET programs for disadvantaged and marginalized youth, including those from economically underprivileged backgrounds, remote regions, women, Dalits, disadvantaged Janajatis, persons with disabilities, and other socially excluded groups. Special emphasis is placed on equity and inclusion, ensuring that vulnerable populations are not left behind in the national skills development agenda.
The EVENT Project is structured around four key components:
Strengthening TVET Regulatory Activities and Capacity Building
Enhancing Technical Education
Support for Short-term Training and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Project Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation
Achievement
Under this program, the organization has provided training to more than 2,600 youths—both male and female—aged between 18 and 40 years, in various skill-based subjects in accordance with the procedures of the project. As a result, over 85% of the trained individuals have been successfully employed. Furthermore, more than 87% of the participating youths have passed the skill tests conducted by the National Skill Testing Board (NSTB).
